  • Geological analysis of projects in the Midcontinent area, with emphasis on Unconventional gas reservoirs and Pennsylvanian depositional systems.
  • Analyze company's position in the Midcontinent District and recommend drilling locations, recompletions, and work-overs to enhance the rate of return in that area.
  • Evaluate non-operated well proposals, joint ventures and property acquisitions/divestments.
  • Provide geological guidance for all drilling operations (vertical and horizontal) with emphasis on formation and reservoir evaluation.
  • Team with drilling, reservoir, operations and land to enhance company's approach to an emerging or mature area.
  • Bring creativity and leadership to the team.
  • Work with geophysicist to tie well data to seismic data for a fully integrated interpretation.
  • Mentor other geoscientists.
  • Define drilling, recompletion and work-over opportunities within company‚Äôs leasehold.
  • Will be responsible for selecting locations, geological well prognosis, properly landing and logging horizontal wells for several rigs.
  • Conduct look-backs to determine G&G factors that explain why previously drilled wells are good or poor.
  • Generate prospects that will enhance company's portfolio.
  • Risk analysis of projects with an emphasis on risk reduction and return on investment.
  • Utilize geological software proficiently to evaluate large volumes of well information.
  • Provide team leadership on projects that can enhance company's bottom line.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work accordingly.
  • Formation evaluation with the understanding of when it is appropriate to bring outside resources to bear on challenging projects.
  • Reservoir characterization through cooperation with engineering and geophysical disciplines
  • All candidates must have Rocky Mountain experience.  This is a necessity. 
  • Well site geologic work (minimal).
  • Seismic interpretation skills and geophysical workstation capabilities.
  • Pete Rose methodology.
Details Specific to this Job:  
  • Unconventional/tight gas & oil experience preferred; particularly with respect to horizontal wells.
  • Computer literate with geological application experience (Petra, GeoGraphix Discovery, A2D, etc.).
  • Team oriented with experience in working with multiple disciplines.
  • Strong public speaking skills with emphasis on prospect presentation.
  • Literate in risk analysis techniques.
  • MS in Geological Sciences, or equivalent experience
